.223 REM Ammunition
- Made in Cape Coral, FL - USA
2A Ammo is your source for in-stock and ready to ship 223 Remington ammo for sale.
At the very start in 1950’s there was the .222 Remington. This cartridge was uniquely developed for varmint hunting.
In developing the Armalite Rifle the .222 Remington did not have the velocity and penetration required. Remington later developed the .222 Remington Magnum which got its designation as 5.56x45 mm and was adopted for use in the new M16 rifle.
In the next year it got SAAMI-certified and became known as .223 Remington in commercial loadings.
The .223 Remington can be used in guns labeled as .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO.
